This power point provides an overview of 6 types of text structure (cause & effect, compare & contrast, main idea/supporting details, persuasive, problem/solution, and sequence/chronological order). The presentation defines each type, illustrates the structure using a graphic organizer, and provides a list of signal words that are associated with each type. At the end, students are asked to read sample paragraphs and practice identifying the specific text structure that is represented. Custom animation circles key signal words and provides the answers to better facilitate a discussion of the practice exercise.
