Description

When studying nonfiction texts and informative writing, text structures are a great mini lesson to teach your students how nonfiction text is organized. I have themed this to current movie scenarios that relate to a young audience. My 6th and 7th graders LOVE this activity!

Directions:

*This is a small group activity*

*Each group will receive 2 envelopes*

  1. Give each group an envelope of the 5 types of text structures.
  2. The second envelope will include 2 scenarios for each type of text structure. I like to cut them into strips and mix them up a bit)
  3. Give students time to sort the scenarios according to the matching text structure.

**I like to give points to table groups, or a prize for the first group that finishes with all correct answers**
