Text Structures Project.
Share

Description

This product is designed for middle and high school level research and informational writing. The assignment can easily be modified to meet the needs of lower level learners. In this project students are given the opportunity to explore high interest topics of their choosing, students will then use the planning sheets, checklists and rubric to research the topic, develop five articles (one for each nonfiction text structure-Description, sequence, cause and effect, problem and solution, and compare and contrast) and create a magazine.

This product provides the planning sheets, rationale, assignment instructions and rubric. Topic selection, format and use can be adapted to any learning situation. I have completed this with students in person with paper, poster board, etc and have used it with distance learning by allowing students to create a google slide. The sky is the limits with this project. The resources in this document are aimed to progress and hone research, drafting, editing, revising and critical thinking skills.

I LOVE this resource, however, I wish it would have came with a list of topics. It has been difficult creating a list big enough for each student to have a different one.
