Description
This download is a simple project involving text structures and 4th grade ELA standard RI.4.5. For this assignment, your class is divided into 4 groups. Each group is assigned a different sea animal: sea otters, green sea turtles, West Indian Manatees, or Bottlenose Dolphins. Their job is to research each animal using the given article.
Once students research their given animal, they are to take that information and organize it into the five text structures using the attached graphic organizer. The five text structures included in this project are:
- sequence
- problem and solution
- compare and contrast
- description
- cause and effect
Answer keys are included.
**EPIC is also a great resource for this project. There are several books for each animal on Epic and I assign my students these books in addition to the articles provided, but you don't need EPIC to complete the assignment.
