Description
This PDF contains 33 slides.
Slide 1 has a preview video of the project showing students the whole project fast.
Slides 2-10 show photos of different types of owls and give some fun facts for kids to learn. Slides 11-13 show the difference between realism and abstract owls and how artists use texture when creating owls as the subject of an artwork. The rest of the pdf is broken down into Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3. You may need an extra day if you have a large class.
Day one has step by step directions and visuals showing students how to draw an owl on a large piece of paper or you can use the demonstration video linked to the project picture on slide 16.
Day 2 has directions and visuals on how to color solid colors and add texture to their owl drawing using crayons and rubbing plates. Again, you can use the demo video attached to slide 28.
Day 3 allows students to paint their picture using watercolors. The video linked to the picture of the owl example uses liquid watercolors but you could use a watercolor set.
Slide 30 is a color mixing reminder that you can display on the board to help them if they are using primary colors to mix their own green, orange, purple and browns.
Slide 32 lists national art standards.

I normally spend one class going over patterns and doing a pattern activity and one day going over texture and doing a texture activity leading up to this project. Both of those are also available in my TpT store. Here are the links:
