Description

Are you looking for an engaging count and sort syllables activity to help children develop phonological awareness? This Thanksgiving themed syllable counting activity will have your kindergarten or first grade students listening for the number of syllables in a word or phrase associated with Thanksgiving. You can have them clap, tap, or just count on fingers the syllables they hear in each word or phrase.

This activity, once done with you a few times, can be done with partners, at a center, or as an independent activity for your Fast Finishers. It’s also great for an intervention or after-school tutoring session.

This resource covers the following standards: CCSS RF.K.2, RF.1.2, 2b,d; TEKS LA.K.2.A.iv, v, viii, x; VASOL R.K.3.a, c, R.1.3.b
