Escape Tales are adventure stories that will give your students an opportunity to practice math skills in a fun way! In this Thanksgiving adventure, students will escape obstacles by solving complex patterns and number puzzlers. Each correct answer will “unlock” the next part of the adventure.

This was unfortunately way too hard for my students. I am fully virtual and teach grades 3-5. I first tried it with my third graders but it was too much for them. I then tried it with my 5th graders but they still struggled. We went problem by problem together as a class and only made it through half of the questions in one class period. There isn't a rule in the answers for question 3. It would be helpful for the answer key to show step by step how the problem is solved.

Hi Chelsea, Thanks for the feedback, and I'm sorry that you didn't have a positive experience. I just updated the answer key to add an explanation for question #3. The pattern is +3, +4, +5, etc. This resource is listed as enrichment with tricky patterns and puzzlers. It is definitely meant to be challenging. All of the skills are appropriate for grades 3-5, but the problem solving piece is something that takes practice and perseverance. Again, sorry that it wasn't a good fit for your students.

My students absolutely loved this escape room! They couldn't believe the problems that kept popping up for the main character! My students struggle with Math and are easily frustrated with any activity no matter how fun. This activity was so engaging that they were so focused on getting to the next part of the story they didn't realize they were doing Math :) Oh and it was very teacher friendly too! Thanks so much!
