Ratios are difficult math concepts and this is a wonderful activity to keep my easily frustrated students working and learning. Love your creativity in your resources. I can't wait to see what you come up for the winter holidays.

My 7th-grade students were very excited about this Thanksgiving-themed activity! It was the perfect activity before break and students were motivated to fill in their turkey. The instant feedback was a huge plus! I did think the rigor could have been at a higher level. It was not very challenging for my 7th graders and most finished within a few minutes.

Standards

Understand the concept of a unit rate 𝘒/𝘣 associated with a ratio 𝘒:𝘣 with 𝘣 β‰  0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship. For example, β€œThis recipe has a ratio of 3 cups of flour to 4 cups of sugar, so there is 3/4 cup of flour for each cup of sugar.” β€œWe paid $75 for 15 hamburgers, which is a rate of $5 per hamburger.”
Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
