Are you looking for a fun Thanksgiving activity for November? Do your students love to play digital games?
This Thanksgiving Trivia Quiz Show may be just what you are looking for!
This presentation is a guessing game, set up like a Jeopardy style quiz show, with 25 questions about Thanksgiving in these categories:
- Basic Facts
- Thanksgiving Symbols
- Thanksgiving Foods
- Thanksgiving History
- Vocabulary
Students read the question and then have to guess the answer. In the PowerPoint version, questions disappear after answering. You can use the optional scoreboard for up to three teams. Each correct answer adds 100 to the score (not the Jeopardy amount displayed). You can click the score more than once for 200, 300, etc. It can be played on the SMART Board, or just projected from the computer.
Among the topics covered in this quiz:
- Who made Thanksgiving a national holiday?
- What do you pour on mashed potatoes?
- What is another word for "thankful"?
- What was the set of laws enacted by the Pilgrims called?
- What do you break on Thanksgiving?
- Where was the first Thanksgiving celebrated?
These games perform better on a PC than a Mac. Some PowerPoints with triggers can be glitchy on Macs. If you have a Mac, ask a question and I will try to send you a small sample of the game to try out.
There is also a Google Slides version of the same game, with the link in the Terms of Use PDF. You will be prompted to Make a Copy of the game.
Limitations: The Google Slides version differs from the PowerPoint game in two ways:
1) The questions already answered do not disappear in Google Slides
2) There is no scoreboard in Google Slides
(You will need to keep track of these two things manually)
