Favorite Places Expository Writing Activity

If your students enjoy Thankful Writing, they'll love Favorite Places, a similar writing activity in which students are asked to choose 3 of their favorite places to visit and explain why they love those places. The Thanksgiving Writing Lesson is a wonderful, well-structured resource that makes holiday-themed writing both meaningful and engaging. The lesson provides clear guidance and supports students in planning, writing, and revising their work, making it easy for them to stay focused and successful. I appreciate that it includes both digital and printable options, which makes it flexible for different classroom settings and learning needs. The prompts are age-appropriate and encourage creativity while still reinforcing important writing skills such as organizing ideas, using details, and writing in complete sentences. This activity works well for whole-group instruction, small groups, or independent practice. My students were motivated and proud of their finished writing pieces. It’s a low-prep, high-impact resource that is perfect for Thanksgiving and highly recommended for any elementary classroom.
