This is a diagram of an animal cell, a set of labels for the basic parts of the cell, and a set of simple definitions for each part. The diagram matches the model produced by 4D Puzzles and can be used as a supplement to work with the model. I use this material by attaching a piece of red string to each label, which the child then uses to indicate on the diagram. We discuss the functions of each part of the cell while we are labelling the diagram. I then read out the definitions, leaving out the names of the parts and then child indicates which part I am reading about. They can then place the definitions next to each label.
