Description
The Candy Problem is a 6th grade math lesson that explores multiples, factors, least common multiples, common multiples, greatest common factors and number patterns. It is a scenario that gives students a concrete way to review number sense while starting to build their ratio and proportional understanding and background knowledge for expressions and equations. I have used this lesson for three years and continue to use it throughout the year to explore new algebraic content and spiral in number sense review. It has been very successful!
Included in this lesson is an 8 page document that can be used in class over two weeks. I will soon be uploading a teacher document as well.
