This quote analysis and class discussion activity for Lois Lowry's famous novel, The Giver is great for in class discussion or distance learning! It's specifically designed to help students engage with each other and the text as they analyze five key quotes from The Giver. The engaging activity teaches students analysis skills through a collaborative gallery walk activity and higher-level reflection questions that are Common Core aligned. It's a great way to get them thinking about the characters, setting, theme and more from the text. An included digital copy (using Google Slides) gives you the flexibility to use the activity in class or online to support distance learners. It also includes clear teacher instructions for hosting a digital or in class gallery walk as well as suggestions for ways to change things up. You can pair it with my reading graphic organizers to create a thorough, Common Core aligned textual analysis.
