Description

This printable Literacy Pack teaches multiple literacy skills based on the picture book "The Invisible String" by Patrice Karst.

The activities are suitable for students in Stages 1-2 (Australia) or ages 6-9 and are an ideal no-prep time saver for teachers who use picture books in their lessons.

With this Literacy Pack, students will:

- demonstrate understanding of literacy concepts through a range of varying activities

- access a range of activities of varying difficulties

- strengthen understanding and use of text-specific vocabulary

- reflect on their own knowledge and understanding of the world.

Included in this pack are activities that focus on the following skills:

- phoneme/grapheme recognition and use

- vocabulary meaning and understanding

- spelling of words within text

- rhyme

- cloze passage

- sequencing and main ideas

- adjectives and character traits

- literal comprehension

- inferential comprehension

- critical thinking

- punctuation

- opinion and making connections

- sentence writing

- find-a-word

Differentiation:

The literacy activities are designed to be completed independently to reinforce concepts addressed in explicit teaching lessons.

Activities employ the use of symbols to indicate what students need to do for each activity (i.e. highlight words).

The comprehension questions increase in level of challenge so that teachers can select the most appropriate level of comprehension questions for their students.

The literacy activities are heavily scaffolded within boxes with explicit instructions. The variety of activities allows for a range of response modes, such as highlighting, matching, writing and drawing.

How to use:

- This is a supplemental resource. You can choose the pages that are most relevant to your teaching needs and your student ability.

- Easy to use- just print the pages you need!

- All you need to use this resource is the picture book text.

- Worksheets are designed to be visibly easy to digest and clear instructions.

Please feel free to ask any questions before purchase!
