Description
The purpose of this unit is to actively engage students in a process that will foster an awareness of an artist’s purpose regardless of the medium, which is inherently engrained across cultures. The scope and sequence of the unit will allow students an opportunity to delve into the labyrinthian nature of archetypes, which seem simplistic at first but undoubtedly can become very complex and multi-faceted. This 21 page study guide takes students on a minimum 4-day lesson plan adventure that will engulf their imaginations and allow them to explore the hidden nature of archetypes. The guide contains the answer keys along with movie study guide questions, 12 stages of the hero's journey map, several extension activities, and multiple essay writing prompts. This lesson can stand alone but also is an integral part of a larger scale 12 week unit I used over the years in conjunction with The Odyssey and The Old Man and the Sea. After completing my archetype unit, my students told me they would never read another book or watch another movie without seeing and understanding the reason an artist incorporates an archetype in his/her work.
**If you have not prevusly coverd archetypes with your students, please look at my Archetype Notes, Quizzes, and PowerPoint Unit.

Looking forward to using this!
Thanks!
Loved this!
Great!
Good questions. The charts took me a little bit of time to understand. Maybe you should put the note about needing your notes (additional purchase) in your product description as well (is mentioned in the product)
Good suggestion. I will add that as a note in all of the archetype units I have.
