Each standard addressed comes with a student friendly "I can" poster.

The target grade level is second grade.

Skills Covered in the Lit Kit:

I can ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.

I can identify and read prepositional phrases.

I can describe the overall structure of a story

I can use information gained from the illustrations and words to demonstrate understanding of characters, setting or plot.

I can recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.

I can use collective nouns.

I can distinguish between past, present, and future tense verbs.

I can use an apostrophe to form contractions.

I can correctly break apart written words by syllables.

I can use knowledge of the meaning of individual words to predict the meaning of compound words.

I can generalize learned spelling patterns when writing words.

I can use common syllabication patterns.

I can distinguish long from short vowel sounds in spoken words.

I know final e for representing long vowel sounds.

I can decode words with common prefixes.
