Here's a complete DIGITAL, LOW PREP unit for Middle School students on how to analyze fiction text for theme based on R.CCR.2: Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas.
Middle School students will LEARN, PRACTICE and be ASSESSED for determining the theme in any fiction text!
Objectives:
1. Students will learn key central idea and theme vocabulary
2. Students will learn a 4-step process to analyze a text for theme. (This lesson will be the foundation for students to build on as they analyze additional texts throughout the school year!)
3. Students will practice applying the 4-step process with a new text in a digital self-checking game
4. Students will be assessed on the skill.

★ Four versions of Pixanotes® each with a different level of scaffolding:
Level 1: Fully printed content and pre-printed pictures
Level 2: Fully printed picture flaps and fill in the blanks for students
Level 3: Pre-printed content and picture flaps that need to be positioned by the
student.
Level 4: Fill-in-the-blanks for content and picture flaps that need to be positioned
by the student.

★ Editable directions
