Understanding theme lesson includes:
• 39 slide PowerPoint formatted with an opening, work session, and lesson closing. Two fables, one myth, and one poem are included on the PowerPoint for direct instruction and guided practice. It also includes two hyperlinks. This PowerPoint was created to address third, fourth, and fifth grade common core standards.
• 2 pages of independent practice with four more stories.
• Two page Student Learning Map with definition, how to find the theme, and examples
This lesson took me about an hour to complete. If you have less time, you may want to divide the lesson into two days.
