Description
This timed writing form includes a feedback rubric which reflects the criteria used in the Avant STAMP writing assessment. ACTFL level acronyms are included as a option for feedback, but not necessary for using this form.
In my classes, most of the time I use only the first page and do not grade timed writing. When I want to give feedback, I do not correct any errors. I use the rubric to show how they are progressing in their expression of their message and just make one suggestion of something they could do differently next time.
About once or twice per quarter, I highlight elements required for various proficiency levels. My students are motivated to push for more complexity, as they see the colors splashed on their papers.
- Prepositional phrases (IL): yellow
- Dependent clauses (IM): blue
- Advanced vocabulary (AL): pink
I seek to keep the writing experience "siempre positivo" -- always positive! I don´t want students to feel stressed or judged, but to celebrate their growth in communication.
NOTE: An optional second page has more space for writing and no rubric.
