Description

Here are a set of tips for classroom management for elementary foreign language teachers, part of an event we did on Twitter- 12 Days of Classroom Management Tips for Elementary Spanish (be sure to follow us on Twitter for more events like this one!). Many of the tips are gleaned from Responsive Classroom, a proactive approach to building community and teaching social and behavior skills. In additional, I've included a number of ideas that have worked for me in my K-4 classes over the last 18 years. I have also included a number of links to blog posts and Youtube/ Periscopes I have done on this topic.

Topics include:

*Setting Expectations

*Establishing Routines

*Modeling and Practicing Expectations

*Redirecting behaviors

*How to deal with interruptions

*Setting behavior goals

And more!

The tips covered in the slides have given me some good ideas to implement this school year. We are returning to pre-COVID functioning and I anticipate there will be adjustments needed from myself and my students. I want to make my classroom be welcoming but with clear expectations.
