A fun activity for use with “To Build a Fire” by Jack London. Students use details and information from the story to create a how-to brochure about traveling in the Yukon. Students will use headings, bullet points or other methods of organization along with appropriate images for their tips. Rubric included.
Student instruction sheet includes rubric for easy grading. There are three versions of the printable included—one version includes grading on having students use positive phrasing (fun additional challenge), a second version includes the positive phrasing as an extra credit opportunity, and the final version does not include the positive phrasing component at all. Use the version that fits your classroom.
