A Token board is an AMAZING tool for anyone supporting students with autism, ADHD, cognitive impairments, and learners who need visual support to encourage positive behaviors while learning. A token board is a simple and easy-to-use tool to improve overall student behavior.
This tool is useful in the classroom, and in-home settings.
What's included:
- Two Token Board Printables - One 5-token board printable AND one 10-token board printable (each board is approx 1/2 page in size)
Suggested Use:
- Cut
- Laminate
- Cut
- Add Velcro
Pro Tip 1: Cut each individual piece prior to laminating to reduce the chances of the edges fraying. This will take a little extra time BUT will create a longer-lasting token board.
Pro Tip 2: Add the soft velcro on the star tokens, and the rough velcro on the board for kids with sensory sensitivities. Plus it's great to feel the soft side instead :)
What is a Token Economy?
Within an educational setting, a token economy is a system for providing positive reinforcement to a child or children by giving them tokens for completing tasks or behaving in desired ways.
Token economies are used as a method of strengthening a behavior or increasing its frequency because the tokens are a way of “paying” children for completing tasks and the children can then use these tokens to buy desired activities or items (Miltenberger, 2008).
