Students practice performing translations, reflections, rotations and dilations in this interactive activity! Pairs of students take turns coming up to the board to roll a die which corresponds to a transformation to perform in the coordinate plane. While they are drawing on the board, the other students have a handout that they are following along with at their desk. In my classroom we move the desks to the outside of the room and put a coordinate plane on the floor using the tiles and painters tape. Using bean-bags, students also plot the original and new coordinates on the floor. Student engagement reaches an all-time high as we integrate technology, hands-on and the traditional paper and pencil! The problems come in a Smart-Notebook file which are editable to adapt to your classroom as well as the student handout in Word and PDF format. Enjoy!
