Description

Transformation task cards are a great way for students to visualize how to combine translations, rotations, and reflections to move an object to an indicated spot.

Included are 20 task cards that are similar to the Tetris game, except the blocks will collect on the bottom, top and sides of the task cards. Students need to list the transformations necessary to move the block to the indicated spot. A recording sheet is included, however, an answer key is not included, as there are multiple combinations of transformations that would work to move the blocks. The notes included have ideas for differentiation to reach all levels of learners in your classroom.

I used the activity to close out transformations. My students really enjoyed the activity. I hung the cards all around the room and they worked through as many as they could in the time allowed and then we had great class discussion about the different ways they got to the answer. Will definitely use again. Went so well one of my colleagues purchased as well.

I used this to help my students understand translations and rotations! They loved playing with it. I laminated the Tetris pieces and had them competing against each other.
