Description
Print, Cut, Go!
Transformationscan be a little challenging for some students to grasp. This set of sorting mats and cards allow you to set up a station or stations. They are also a good option for small group instruction.
Transformations included in this set are:
- Translation
- Rotation
- Reflection
- Dilation
Included with this product are both simple geometric shapes on a coordinate plane and a set of simple images that also are placed on the coordinate plane. These two sets can be used to scaffold instruction within the same class period or on different days.
The original card sheets are also the key for this activity.
Normally I number cards like this but with this product I decided not to so that you would have more flexibility. You can work with two, three or four of the transformations, depending on your needs.
Speaking of options, you can set these up as flashcards if you prefer. Put the type of transformation on the back of the image to convert them into flashcards. If you use interactive notebooks in your classroom, you could print two of each type of transformation for a pocket in their notebook.
Finally, I created a large mat located at the end of this file that has a coordinate plane on it and a two-sided cat image so that you can use it to illustrate different transformations during small group instruction.
