This bundle of highly engaging activities will keep your students excited about learning right through the end of the year! It includes STEM, PBL, and research projects - all with a fun and interesting world travel theme.

This bundle includes all 4 of these resources:

  • Plan A Cruise Dream Vacation PBL Activity
  • The Great Desert Island STEM Challenge
  • World Traveler Math & Social Studies Research Project
  • Countries of the World Travel Brochure Project

Please look at the individual previews to see exactly what is included in each.

Plan A Cruise Dream Vacation PBL Activity

This project based learning experience lets students become travel agents and design a fun-filled vacation for their classmates. They will use important skills like math, research, planning, time management, budgeting and organization to create their one-of-a-kind trip.

Each page in their cruise plan book requires students to use certain academic skills: vocabulary, multi-digit addition, elapsed time, multiplication and division, using maps, conducting research

The Great Desert Island STEM Challenge

This is a set of 5 themed STEM challenges that center around the story of a shipwrecked traveler stranded on a deserted island. After watching an introductory “movie trailer” and hearing the story of the shipwreck, students will read five of the traveler's diary entries. Each entry will challenge them to design and build something to help him survive and get back to civilization!

These STEM challenges require minimal prep and a whole lot of scientific fun! Each activity uses common materials that you probably already have in your classroom or can easily acquire.

Includes 5 separate challenges:

  • Island Architect: Construct A Hut
  • Crocodile Crossing: Build A Bridge
  • Message In A Bottle: Waterproof Container
  • Pirate Defense: Coconut Catapult
  • Float Your Boat: Raft Design

World Traveler Math & Social Studies Research Project

This is a research-based learning project that integrates social studies, math, and writing. Students will go on a world tour of 6 different countries around the world. Through their travels, they will learn the location of these countries along with important facts.

To get to each destination, students must use their budgeted money to buy plane tickets. They will:

  • use subtraction with regrouping to calculate how much money is left after each purchase
  • determine the length of each flight (elapsed time)
  • find and mark each location on a world map
  • label the continents and the compass rose

After traveling to all six destinations, students will:

  • use 3-digit addition to calculate the total money spent
  • write a descriptive paragraph about a landmark of their choice
  • write an opinion paragraph about the location they would like to visit again

Countries of the World Travel Brochure Project

This is a set of templates to make brochures about 14 different countries. These can be used for your study of the world, its regions and cultures, and geography. They give students a structure to follow when doing research.

Each tri-fold brochure includes:

  • the country name and outline map on the front
  • geographic information
  • famous citizens
  • country flag
  • facts such as population, language, climate, major religions, government type, currency, landmarks, etc.

There is so much packed into this bundle! It's perfect for the end of the year - letting students continue to practice essential skills through high-interest, project-based activities.

Many of these activities also include a digital version in Easel.
