About the store
Teacher for 37 years and taught instrumental music (band and guitar) from grades 5-12. Early on in my career I taught in five schools with 450 band students twice a week for instruction. I taught in high school and band for the last 27 years of my career. I now adjudicate, give workshops, teach private lessons and substitute in the local area teaching band.

Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Attend PD as often as I can so that I may learn from others.

Additional biographical information

Brent is currently retired having spent 37 years of teaching in the music room.He has worked for two different school divisions: Arcola School Division from 1986-1989  and Saskatoon Public School Division from September 1989  to June 2023.  During his 34 years with the SPSD Brent has taught in thirteen elementary schools and two High schools (Walter Murray Collegiate and Aden Bowman Collegiate). During university Brent received the R.J. Staples award at the U of S ( based on academic achievement and the student’s contribution in performing areas and groups within the Department of Music.), in 2014 received the Saskatchewan Band Association Distinguished Band Directors award (Recognition of outstanding contribution to band, strong musical leadership and constant promotion of musical excellence), and in October, 2024 received the Sask. Music Educators Outstanding Achievement Award. He has performed with several community groups over the years and. has been a guest conductor and clinician throughout Saskatchewan,  SBA summer camps, Alberta International Band Festival in Calgary and SMC conferences.  He directed the Junior Summer Band Camp for five years in Saskatoon during the late 90’s and the past three years he coordinated the Junior North Provincial Honour Band and is currently adjudicating festivals and guest conducting workshops and honour groups.
