Description

This tree observation journal is for a classroom year-long observation of a tree. This meets the science inquiry standard of observing and asking questions about the natural environment.
Included in the journal:

* A cover page
* A journal page for each month. Included are three types of pages. One page has the month and a sentence starter in dotted print. The second type has only the month in dotted print. The last type has no dotted print-the student will write everything independently. This allows for differentiation and a gradual release of responsibility.

This is a great project to include in student portfolios. My students love to look back and see the progress they made as writers…and scientists!

I love this resource! I've used it as an introduction to science journals as well as part of learning about season and the life of a tree. I highly recommend

My students loved using this resource. It provided them with an extra chance to get outside, too. This year, I've been remote, but am heading back soon. I plan to do an amended version as we complete the year so we can have this cool activity, but also provide a mask break!
