Description
Two-Step Equations - Guided Notes
This resource includes two half pages of guided notes for two-step equations. The interactive notes focus on using the properties of equality to solve equations. Each page has an opening question in which the students examine an equation and determine how it is different from previous equations. They are also given the opportunity to explain how they would solve it. The notes provide four examples of different types of two-step equations. One example has a negative coefficient and another example has a fractional coefficient. Students can be encouraged to use a colored pencil to highlight the number being added/subtracted/multiplied or divided to each side of the equation. By doing this, students will see the equation remains balanced and the variable is isolated. Students are also given space to check their answers. Answer keys are included.

Notes are set up for interactive notebooks, so they are half sheets. Not a lot of practice problems.
My students love using this resource. Excellent way to learn and review new concepts.
My 7th grade students enjoyed this resource and I will be using it again!
Great resource, thank you!
Great resource.
Thank you so much for making these guided notes! My 8th grade resource students were really struggling with equations due to being out of school for nearly two years due to the pandemic. This is a great guided notes resource for two-step equations!
I really enjoyed this resource. I have used it for several years; before and after COVID-19. Great product!
Very clear and helpful notes sheets.

CCSS6.EE.B.7
Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form 𝘹 + 𝘱 = 𝘲 and 𝘱𝘹 = 𝘲 for cases in which 𝘱, 𝘲 and 𝘹 are all nonnegative rational numbers.
CCSS7.EE.B.3
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
