Description

This product has several Interactive notebook pages that hinge on the following analogy...

"Solving a two-step equation is like unwrapping a gift."

It includes the following resources...

*Explanation of Gift Analogy

*Gift Analogy Interactive Notebook Cut and Paste Activity

*Two-Step Equations Practice Booklet

I came up with the “Gift Analogy” as a way to ensure that students solve two-step equations in the correct order. It has truly made a difference and I am no longer frustrated with students thinking they must undo the multiplication/division first. The “Gift Analogy” has greatly increased student retention of solving two-step equations. It makes me smile to hear students say, “No, you need to remove the “wrapping paper” first. 
