Do your students struggle with solving two-step word problems? Or do you just need a tool to help them get started? My third graders often times would have no idea how to begin tackling two-step word problems or even realize the problems had more then one step! I created this checklist to give them a starting point. It held them accountable and built independence and perseverance! I loved seeing their problem solving strategies come to life while they used them!
This product includes a one page word problem direction sheet that gives students the steps to solve two-step word problems and to use the checklist.
A checklist with explicit steps to help students solve the problems and help them determine which operation they will need to use to solve each step.
Teacher tip: laminate or put the checklists in page protectors (like the target dollar spot ones) so students can use them with dry erase makers over and over again.
