Description

Get a complete, ready-to-print unit covering topics including graphing and writing linear inequalities and systems of linear inequalities.

⭐⭐⭐ Now with lesson videos! ⭐⭐⭐

UNIT OVERVIEW:

Students will build on their study of linear functions by graphing and formulating 2-variable linear inequalities from multiple representations, including in applied situations.

Students will then extend their knowledge of 2-variable linear inequalities to systems of linear inequalities by graphing and writing systems including exactly two linear inequalities.

These no-prep resources include 5 lessons with guided notes, an exit ticket, a next-day warm-up, and 2 extra practice assignments per lesson.  The unit also includes mid-unit and end-of-unit editable reviews, mid-unit and end-of-unit editable assessments, and concept organizers. Increase student engagement with 5 activities!

TEACHERS LOVE the worked-out keys included with the lesson notes. Feel confident delivering instruction on these sometimes tricky topics! It is a major time-saver if you don’t have quite enough time to create your own guided notes key for the day.

STUDENTS LOVE the reduced note-taking burden with the guided notes handouts. Fill-in-the-blank vocabulary improves the accuracy of students’ notes and frees up more time for showing mathematical steps. The notes videos are fantastic resources for absent students.

TEACHERS LOVE the multiple versions of each practice worksheet, review, and assessment and they take full advantage of the EDITABLE versions of the reviews, mid-unit assessment, and unit test.

STUDENTS LOVE the complementary concept organizers that help them organize concepts and procedures.

TEACHERS LOVE the pre-made exit tickets and next-day warm-ups that support skills from every lesson in the unit. Print 4-per-page or project on the board and record answers on scratch paper!

STUDENTS LOVE the variety of fun and engaging activities!

Most resources are in non-editable PDF format.

  • Editable versions of the reviews, mid-unit assessment and test are also included in .docx format for MS Word.
  • Streaming and download links are included for the notes videos.
  • 5 digital activities compatible with Google Slides and Google Classroom™ are included.
  • Printable versions of the digital activities are included in PDF format.

You need a free Google account to access the digital activities, add the digital activities to your Google Drive™, or assign the digital activities using Google Classroom.

UNIT 5 INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING LESSONS:

Lesson 1: Introduction to Graphing Linear Inequalities (Slope-Intercept Form)

Students will:

  • graph 2-variable linear inequalities from inequalities written in slope-intercept form
  • determine if points are solutions to inequalities by examining graphs and by verifying algebraically

Lesson 2: Graphing Linear Inequalities (Rewrite in Slope-Intercept Form)

Students will:

  • rewrite 2-variable linear inequalities in slope-intercept form
  • graph 2-variable linear inequalities from inequalities written in standard form and other forms (by rewriting to slope-intercept form)
  • determine if points are solutions to inequalities by examining graphs and by verifying algebraically
  • graph 1-variable linear inequalities on the coordinate plane, such as x > -4 and y ≤ 2

Lesson 3: Formulating Linear Inequalities

Students will:

  • write 2-variable linear inequalities in slope-intercept form from graphs
  • write 2-variable linear inequalities from verbal descriptions in applied situations
  • graph the newly-formulated linear inequalities and use the inequalities to solve problems in applied situations

Lesson 4: Comparing Linear Equations and Inequalities

Students will:

  • formulate 1-variable and 2-variable linear equations and inequalities
  • solve 1-variable linear equations and inequalities
  • graph all possible solutions to 2-variable equations and inequalities

The resource is aligned to. TEKS but I would say notes lean more rigorous and lengthy than basic understanding. I appreciate the amount of materials and options I get with this bundle - especially the multiple versions of assessment. I use the assessments most often.

It's been tough finding resources that are aligned to the TEKS. I was switched from Algebra II to I at the beginning of the year & did not have much prep time to get ready for my students especially with the weight of teaching a tested subject. I love that everything is bundled together with activities, warm-ups, exit tickets, quizzes, tests, etc. Plus, they are all aligned. It couldn't get any better than that. Believe me I've tried many resources.

I have used this during hybrid teaching, where students are in-person some days and at home other days. This unit is concise but covers the essentials of linear inequalities and was great for my students this year. Thank you!
