Description
This activity includes 12 word problems that contain two variables. Students will match the correct equation to each word problem. Equations include standard form, slope-intercept form, and two equations containing exponents. Students will see examples of equations with percents, money, and unit rates.
This activity is a great way to discuss linear and non-linear equations, the differences between slope-intercept and standard form for equations, unit rates, and percents. I use this activity to build understanding of the relationships between verbal situations and their symbolic forms before beginning our unit on systems of equations or during our unit on linear and non-linear relationships. Students can work independently or with partners to match equations.
The activity includes 12 questions, 15 answer choices, answer recording sheet, and an answer key.
