Understanding Measurement: Standard, Metric, Length, Volume, Weight,
Players learn measurement concepts and facts (Standard and Metric) while playing over 10 different games including Go Fish, War, Memory, and Bingo.
(Grades 3-6) For this deck, matches are cards that equal the same measurement expressed in different ways.
By playing a variety of card games, children are introduced to measurement following Standard and Metric systems. They’re introduced to such concepts as inches to feet, centimeters to meters, teaspoons to tablespoons, ounces to pounds, seconds to minutes, and days to years, in simple terms they can relate to while playing. The beauty is that kids don’t even know that they’re learning and practicing when playing the games.
We call it purposeful, playful, practice!
Kids stay engaged in the game, and because they are engaging and fun, the activity helps to reduce anxiety, and frustration often encountered in learning while enhancing focus, self-confidence, social skills, and higher-order learning.
