5.NBT.A.1 Students will identify that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents to the left. This formative assessment allows them to use grid models and place value charts to assess their knowledge to understand place before taking a summative assessment. Teachers can also use this for their data before giving students any summative assessments on place value.
