Description

The only set of vector problems (with samples and detailed keys) you'll ever need for your High School Physics course! Covers all the requisite topics students need for success in the topic of vectors. Designed for alignment with the NYS Regents Physics curriculum and test. Also serves as an excellent resource pack for AP Physics 1/2 and SAT Physics exams.

Contains over 20 sample questions and 125 in-pack questions (many with multiple sections) that cover every topic in basic vector math, including helping students learn how to accurately use a protractor to measure angles and headings!

Designed to be used before tackling in-depth ideas about forces and motion. The concept of equilibrium can be broached without talking about acceleration, and the only motion equation used is "v = d/t"! Help your students to learn the underlying math before teaching them about the nuances of kinematics and dynamics! (They can also be worked into motion curriculum to teach concepts in stages.)

Includes sample problems so you can guide your students through the activities, establish best practices and standards and best prepare them for success!

Field-tested questions refined over years with over 1,500 students having attempted the majority of questions contained in the problem pack. These questions get maximum results with minimum time for both student and teacher!

Topics Covered:

- Measuring magnitude and direction from scale diagrams

- Constructing resultants using tip-to-tail method

- Constructing resultants using parallelogram method

- Constructing equilibrants

- Using trigonometry to calculate the magnitude of the resultants of perpendicular vectors

- Using trigonometry to calculate the magnitude of the perpendicular components of a vector

- Using compass and xy-axis angle coordinates to determine direction of vectors

- Graphically determining resultants using a fixed coordinate system

- Mathematically determining resultants of multiple vectors

Notes:

- Sample problems included (with key)

- 'Component sheet' attached for mathematical solutions

- Extra blank sheet of graph paper included

- Metric ruler and protractor required for graphical problems

- Detailed answer key included

- Sample solution for some mini-activities

- Activity comes in PDF format, ensuring for accurate reprints

I'm sorry that the resources don't have detailed instructions that better describe the curriculum. That's a project and set of products I'm working on for the (sadly) distant future. Here's a couple of videos you might find handy! Vector addition sample problem (300s and 400s) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHn3TYlo8-w Parallelogram Method of Vector Addition (100-103) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amX2jgtf-GY Tip-to-Tail Method of Vector Addition (100-103) -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vqy7WSHTR8 Hope this helps a bit and I hope you enjoy the problem pack!

I wish there was more of a preview. The worksheets are very clear, but I wish the worksheets had more clear instructions for the teacher, any answer keys, and I wish the worksheets were more differentiated particularly for low-level students.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Sarah! While the worksheets are intended for teachers with knowledge of the content and solution methods contained within, a future project is to provide detailed video keys for my packs, but that's a project for the future. Because the core content for these worksheets is at the NYS Regents level, all activities use the methods tested on the Regents Exam as the base difficulty level. With my non-Regents students I've used these sheets but greatly increased the time to cover these concepts and complete these activities. I've been able to get them to complete 2-D component method problems with a relatively high rate of success (for those who work, anyway). Again, thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it and I hope you found the problem pack to be a useful tool!
