Description

The essential activities to push your students after they think they've mastered the basic equations! Field-tested with hundreds of students and years in the classroom, designed to get maximum results with minimum time invested for both student and teacher!

This bundle contains Activities 6-8 from Unit 3 (see my store page for more information on each activity).

This mini-bundle presents 52 questions covering multi-step linear motion, multi-part linear motion and ticker tape analysis. Ticker tape problems come on scaled diagrams.

Multiple choice problems contain distractors designed to capitalize on common student errors.

As your students master using the basic linear motion equations in one-step problems, it's time to add some more complexity! This mini-bundle contains multi-step and multi-part linear motion questions (Activities 6 and 7) that will require students to be organized when working. Often students who can make it past simple one-step problems get caught up here due to a lack of that organization.

Many physics classes use ticker tape to analyze motion. The last activity bundled (Activity 8) has samples of ticker tape to use as a reinforcement or warmup activity for lab work with ticker tape.

Materials are provided in PDF format to ensure that you'll get accurate and consistent measurements year-to-year! Key is color-coded to show where measurements are applied in each question.

Correlates with standards and questions on the New York State Regents Exam in Physics. Also aligns strongly with many other standardized test questions in linear motion (AP Physics 1/2, SAT II Physics).

Activities:

- Solve multi-step linear motion problems using the following equations:

- v = d/t

- vf = vi + at

- a = Δv / t

- d = vit + (1/2)at²

- vf² = vi² + 2ad

- vavg = (vi + vf) / 2

- Solve multi-step linear motion problems both with and without cues

- Solve relative motion problems with relative acceleration between two objects

- Correctly accounting for direction in problems

- Using direction in answers, both with and without cues

- Solve multi-part linear motion problems using the following equations:

- v = d/t

- vf = vi + at

- a = Δv / t

- d = vit + (1/2)at²

- vf² = vi² + 2ad

- vavg = (vi + vf) / 2

- Take final values for velocity/displacement in one interval and use them to craft initial conditions for next interval

- Calculate cumulative displacement/distance traveled for multi-leg journey

- Correctly accounting for direction in problems

- Measure displacement of tape during various time intervals

- Use frequency to determine period between marks on ticker tape samples

- Determine speed, velocity and acceleration of ticker tape samples

- Differentiate between positive and negative velocity of tape samples

- Differentiate between positive and negative acceleration of tape samples

- Analyze tapes at rest and initially in motion

Contents:

- 52 questions

- 107 total responses contained in questions

- 99 short answer questions

- 8 multiple choice

- Samples are drawn to scale

- Detailed Answer Key with step-by-step solutions for all short answer problems

- Answer Key is color-coded to show measurements

- Activity comes in PDF format, ensuring accurate reprints

- Equation and Reference Sheet provided
