Description

In this exciting and interactive project students are able to explore solving Unit Rate and Rate scenarios using real world situations.

** love this project?Check out the newly released Integer Project for 6th Grade Math!

You can use this project in a variety of different ways:

1) Gallery Walk

2) Station Tour -- with each table being a different Unit Rate Comparison

3) Independent Practice -- Drill using timer

Part I: Unit Rate conversions using Real Products

Students will be able to compare 2 different products based on Rate Prices and they will have to convert the prices to Unit Prices per ounce in order to compare which is the better buy.

Part II: Research Project

Students will use the online grocery of their choice to compare products by their unit price. Students will take the unit prices of the item and convert the prices to 14 ounces.

Standards Aligned to Common Core:

-- 6.RP.A.2 and 6.RP.A.3

-- 7.RP

I actually found this while googling for unit rate items. It was not on TPT. I liked it so much that I googled your name and found things on TPT including this. Even though I already had a copy, I decided to purchase it since I will use it over and over again. Thank you for all of the hard work!

Good resource, only reason I won't use it again is because I am in a lower grade level now!

Understand the concept of a unit rate 𝘢/𝘣 associated with a ratio 𝘢:𝘣 with 𝘣 ≠ 0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship. For example, “This recipe has a ratio of 3 cups of flour to 4 cups of sugar, so there is 3/4 cup of flour for each cup of sugar.” “We paid $75 for 15 hamburgers, which is a rate of $5 per hamburger.”
Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
Solve unit rate problems including those involving unit pricing and constant speed. For example, if it took 7 hours to mow 4 lawns, then at that rate, how many lawns could be mowed in 35 hours? At what rate were lawns being mowed?
