Description

With Computer Science standards popping up across the nation and devices not always being easily accessible, it's great to have unplugged activities to help students understand the concepts. This product helps students to understand simple coding concepts while moving "Robbie Robot" around.

These puzzles use block coding to help a friendly robot move around a grid. This is very similar to some of the educational robots used within classrooms these days that use a grid. Due to the necessary reading, I'd recommend this for 3rd through 5th grades, but younger students can definitely learn the concepts with reading assistance.

There are three grid maps with 3-4 problems to solve for each. Students will discover where codes lead the robots, will code the robot to get to a particular location, and will debug codes to fix errors. Students can work individually or with partners. Common computer science vocabulary used includes algorithm, coding, and debugging. To find vocabulary cards to use to correlate with this lesson and others, check out this product in my store: Computer Science Vocabulary Words.
