Description

Use these easy uppercase level 2 letters after children are familiar with the easy uppercase level 1 letters. In level 2, the bubble letter has been taken away and the letter is placed on a section of lined paper. This starts to teach children the position of each letter in relation to the lines. Start at the red dot, follow the numbers and gray arrows, and follow the black arrows when lines need to reverse direction and go over the same line.

I have two versions of letters with one being easy and one being traditional. The easy version is what I have used with my preschooler because it has the fewest "pencil pickups" which allowed him to form the letters as quickly as possible. He is autistic and loooooves learning things quickly and at a young age. It took some time to work up the stamina, but eventually we would finish the entire book in one sitting.

I recommend printing two of each letter and create a laminated and bound write on/wipe off book so that there is one letter on the right and on letter on the left side when the book is open. This is helpful so that the adult can model to the child how to form the letter while chanting, "Start at number one at the red dot, go go down, then back up to the top for number two, then over to the gray dot at number three and over," for the letter A for example. Or it could provide an additional repetition for the child.

I have found that writing the entire alphabet at once rather than focusing on one letter or group of letters to be far more efficient and manageable. I have also found that initially it's best to separate upper and lowercase letters until children are more familiar with them.
