Use as a formative or summative assessment to gauge students' ability to put figurative language into writing.

Beyond having students just think of these figurative language techniques, the assessment prompts students to think of what effect the techniques are having on the writing. I want them to find the beauty of this language beyond just seeing it used. That is why I have them stretch to artfully choose and use them.
