This is a one-page exercise in which students practice writing dialogue and using open and closed quotation marks correctly in a passage. It may be used at the beginning of a narrative unit, as an informal formative assessment, as a supplemental activity, etc. I have had my students create their own short, correctly punctuated dialogue as a culminating activity.
