This Math Activ Studio flipchart for Promethean Boards teaches students to use graphs to solve problems. This lesson is aligned with the Houghton Mifflin Math Series 4.6 - 1st grade. The flipchart opens with the "Problem of the Day" in which the teacher asks the students questions about numbers of different grapes chosen. After the teacher has gotten feedback, he or she may pull down the black box revealing a graph that reflects the information in the word problem. Next, a slide displays objectives for the lesson. The next slide gives the opportunity to build a graph and solve a problem. The students are given information and they must pull the blue bar to build their graph to reflect the information. This slide also includes questions the teacher may ask the students regarding the information given. The students are then given a list of guided and individual work to complete (aligned with the textbook direction). The next page allows for review and closure for the lesson's objectives, along with a journal activity.
