Description

Have your students learned how to decide how big their problems are, but they're still acting impulsively and overreacting in the moment. The STOP model (stop, take a break, observe the situation, and proceed mindfully) gives them the tools they need to slow down their impulses and make better choices. This technique is used in both dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapies, and it's easy for kids of all ages to remember and understand. The packet includes a brief lesson, break cards that include the STOP model, and a reflection worksheet.
