About Riddles

These riddles are questions and/or answers with a double or veiled meaning. The riddles rely on a “play on words” for the answers. Words are used that sound alike and may be spelled differently to relate to the question. The language may puzzle some students. Be sure to discuss the meanings so all students “get it.”

Riddles are always a favorite with my students. Any time you can build vocabulary is a plus. Students creating idioms, riddles, jokes ultimately leads to enhancing their creative skills. It takes writing, language, and vocabulary to create riddles. I love how this one is geared to math. We use this a lot during the year. However, we use a lot of riddles during our Geometry unit.
