It's craft time.............during math!
Your 2nd graders will enjoy making 2 valentine math crafts encompassing some of the math common core standards.
**Heart Craft- Students decide whether numbers are odd or even and follow a color code accordingly.
Please note: You will need pink and red tissue paper of your own for this project as well as another color(this is optional). Also glitter/glitter glue is optional.
Common Core: 2.OA.3 Odd/Even
**Valentine Bracelet/Necklace
Students will use their number abilities to create a bracelet or necklace with "charms".
Grayscale and Color Version available.
Common Core: 2 NBT.3 Read/write numbers to 1,000 using base ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
Please note: You will need yarn(preferably pink or red), or colored string of your own for this project.
Other important notes:
There is some prep work involved such as photocoping, cutting tissue paper, and yarn in advance.
There are directions and it highly advised that you make your own samples of both projects prior to using them with your students.
You can use these during center time, however, these projects will take longer than 15 minutes to create.
