Description
Make addition meaningful and engaging with this Valentine’s Day addition activity! Students roll two dice (or roll one die twice) and record the numbers in the addition equation at the bottom of the mat. They then model each addend by placing manipulatives on each side of the heart, add the numbers, write the sum, and roll again to repeat the activity.
For extra fun, Valentine-themed pom poms or conversation hearts work perfectly—but any classroom manipulatives can be used! This activity is ideal for building number sense, hands-on addition skills, and math confidence in a festive way.
