1) Understanding Sampling VOCABULARY Activity

  • Introduction to sampling terms
  • Given a Term Bank and descriptions, students will decide which term matches each description best, based on their own prior knowledge of the terms

2) Determining Valid Samples PRACTICE

  • Given different sampling situations, students will determine which sample technique is most valid and which will most likely have bias

3) Valid Samples TEST PRACTICE

  • 8 multiple choice questions in two formats:
    • Printable PDF
    • Version for Google Forms (link included in the downloadable PDF)

4) Answer Key to All Parts

This resource was developed to meet the requirements of the 7th Grade Statistics & Probability Standard below:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.SP.A.1
Understand that statistics can be used to gain information about a population by examining a sample of the population; generalizations about a population from a sample are valid only if the sample is representative of that population. Understand that random sampling tends to produce representative samples and support valid inferences.
