Description

SLPs, are you looking for some fun activities for your upper elementary, middle, and high school students with language, grammar, and articulation goals to use for Halloween or year round?

This eleven page no prep mini-unit is just what you are looking for! This unit includes a two page "newspaper" all about the vampire and the legends behind this mythical creature. The other nine pages are companion activities, including a sheet for comprehension questions, articulation, vocabulary (matching), irregular past tense verbs, conjunctions, describing/writing, similarities/differences, and multiple meaning words. Just print and go!

I have successfully used this mini-unit with students over 2 or 3 speech language therapy sessions (depending on session length). While this can certainly be used around Halloween, it could be used at any point during the school year, especially if you have students interested in vampires. (Please note: this unit works best if students are able to read on at least a 4th grade level. Otherwise, the therapist will need to read the newspaper article to the students.)

I used this as a short reading comprehension exercise for my students around Halloween. It was technically enrichment for the early finishers whose classmates were far behind on another unit. Short, sweet, and engaging. Just what I like!
