This Power Point can be used to teach Variables & Expressions.
It can be used with the EnVision Math series for 5th Grade Math. (Topic 6 Lesson 1: Variables and Expressions), but you don't have to have the series in order to use the Power Point.
What's included?
A 13 page Power Point that includes:
- vocabulary terms (variable, algebraic expression, constant, equation)
- key words & example table
- matching word form and expressions
- interactive slides for students to show what they know (written form of expressions)
- 2 critical thinking slides using 2 Truths and a Lie (students love these!)
- 2 Turn & talk slides
and a 2 pages of fill in the blank, fill in the table, and matching notes
YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD FONTS BEFORE THE POWER POINT WILL WORK CORRECTLY WITH SPACING & SUCH. <<< OR >>> A PDF OF THE POWER POINT IS INCLUDED. YOU COULD PROJECT THE PDF INSTEAD OF SHOWING THE POWER POINT.
You will need to have a specific font downloaded first in order for this Power Point to work correctly with spacing and such.

This is a great resource to introduce the topic of variables to students who have not seen this before. This realy helped my students to understand variables and I plan to use it again this year.
This was exactly what I was looking for although I wish it was Google Slides compatible and not a powerpoint as I had to adjust the information to fit perfectly. However the information was student friendly and the notes were perfect for my students to write down the information for quick review. Thank you!
I used this before the standards changed so I can comment on alignment yet. I found it very useful.
